I disagree with your comments about the general quality of eBay cars/sellers. I've seen plenty of cars advertised on eBay that were great deals. Six months ago my mother bought an immaculate, like new '98 9000CSE found on eBay. In February, My coworker saw a '90 Mercedes 300SEL, and had it shipped up to Maine sight unseen (just a few pictures)... the car is great. I'm sure other people have had plenty of bad experiences on eBay, but I doubt the percentage is much higher than that experienced by used car buyers in general.
All that said... Saabnet classifieds are great (my dad just bought one advertised here), and the sellers tend to know more about their cars and keep them in better condition than private sellers in general. Saabnet classifieds are always the first place I look, I read them about 3 times a day and I'm not even in the market right now. Local newspaper classifieds are a mixed bag... here in Maine there are a lot of beat up cars, and it's a lot harder to screen them.
