Some thoughts:
1. If the newer-fangled plug works in the 9-5 Aero, why wouldn't it work in older Aeros? Would the electronics be able to deal with the difference? If it was better, why wouldn't NGK recommend it for 9K's, or do they? I would gladly pay extra for these plugs if they provided some measure of improvement over the standard NGK's I've been using. So what is this advantage? I've been following the threads and haven't quite figured this out yet, or did I miss something?
2. I adjust the gap according to what works. In my car with potentially >20 psi on tap, it can misfire with gaps >0.9mm, so mine is set at 0.8mm where it runs fine and still maintains the factory spec (barely).
3. Since installing the ECU upgrade the car is very sensitive to any water that enters the plug area at the top of the head, as when the engine is cleaned. I use dielectric grease, but I get misfire when water accumulates. I suspect my DI cassette may be weakening which is causing the sensitivity to wider plug gaps and water in the vicinity of the plugs.
But when conditions are controlled (no water and a minimal gap) all is well.
