My first thought is that you've got a slipping belt. I'm never sure when Saab went to the self-adjusting belt tensioner, but you might have that, or the kind where you need to adjust it yourself. Inspect the belt (on the inside, driven side) for missing chunks, or the shine of a polished belt. Neither is good. Press down on the top of the belt, mid-way between the pulleys. It should be pretty tight - no more than about 3/8 inch deflection with decent force. It should feel tigher than you think reasonable.
If the belt is loose, tighten it if it's the adjustable tensioner. Otherwise, you'll need a new tensioner. If the belt is more than two/three years old, replace it.
Don't forget to look for obvious stuff like an oil leak oiling down the belt or the like.
It *might* be a main pulley, aka Harmonic Balancer. They tend to squeal on engine start, but heck, things happen. The main pulley is the lowest pulley on the engine. Draw a chalk mark across the face, and start the engine and make it squeal. Shut it down and check the chalk mark. If the line is broken, then the inner and outer parts of the pulley are spinning differently. This is bad. Replace the pulley.
There may be other issues, like a bad alternator, but go after the easy stuff first - the belt.
Good luck!
