I have the exact same problem on my 89 9kt. The water on mine was geting in from one of those little plastic grommets at the base of the windshield.
I posted a while back about this and some folks gave me some other suggestions but it was in fact the grommet.
To see if this is your problem pop the hood and remove the cover that goes over your air conditioning components that is between the windshield base and the engine compartment. 2 torx screws and 2-3 clip fasteners.
Once this stuff is removed take a glass of water and pour it down your windshield and take a peak to see if the water is getting past the grommets. Some people on this board swear that these grommets are not meant to be water tight because they have a hole in the middle of them.
Do the test yourself and you may see that one is letting water past while the others do not.
Mine was a simple fix, a little bit of silicon around the grommet and you won't be afraid to wash your car.
Hope this works.
