ACCII Ahaa! - What I learned last night

After spending my $29 and 30 minutes with my new Saab guy, I thought I'd share my learnings with the board and the heat deprived 9000 owners like myself.

You may remember that ACCII brain checked out OK, and pulled 0 faults from the system. Also the flap, arm, rod, stepper motor arm all were in tact and it moved manually, would control temperature.

Scott, my new Saab guy pointed out that there was little or no resistance felt from the stepper motore itself when moved. He indicated that there is an internal plastic gearset inside the stepper motore. What seems to be happening is that the ACCII runs the motor just fine. The breakdown is in the gears inside the stepper motor.

Have any of you either rebuilt a stepper motor or replaced one? How big a job is this? Saab wasnts $277 plus labor for a new part. I can get a used part with a warranty for $175.
