I had my stock cassette player and eq replaced with a cd player(Pioneer)and have enjoyed it thoroughly ever since. I never listen to FM but it's there if I want to. I also had a new antenna put in after I ruined the original going through a car wash. I still have the cassette player and the eq. Loved that eq by the way, but with a cd player it's not needed. As to why yours isn't working, check the fuses first, then check your antenna connection from the radio to your antenna. If that fails, you may find the answer here or maybe from a dealer. Me, I just put in a cd player after my cassette player quit on me. I love it, it'll play anything I throw at it: cd-r's and cd-rw's and it sounds great. I just need new speakers at some point.
