Sounds like the tie rod ends or ball joints might be worn. Is this a high mileage car? Maybe the wheel alignment is out (especially the toe adjustment) causing constant corrections to keep the car pointed ahead. Can you jack up one wheel and rock the tire? Grab it on the left and right sides, then rock it back and forth. If it moves a lot the tie rod ends are probably worn. Next, grab it top and bottom and rock again. If it moves a lot, the ball joints are likely worn.
Another possibility might be the control arm bushings; if they are worn the steering could be sloppy. I'll let experts in this area like BillJ or Quasi expand on this area.
I doubt the motor mounts would be involved here. I had an 87 9kT with mounts so bad that the dip stick cap rubbed against the firewall, yet it steered straight and true.
