Steve -
Its a small little thing, about 1 1/4 inches thick and 1 1/2 inc diameter. On my '94 it is directly to the left of the airbag near the center of the car. There are 2 motors mounted to a peice of stamped metal. One motor is in front and far under some duct work. This is not the motor. The next motor is directly in back of that (toward the cockpit) and attached to the same peice of metal. More telling is the 1.5 mm splined steel shaft that extends to the right, or the cast aluminum arm that is connected to a stiff rod that then goes through the firewall. The little alumnim arm can't be much more than 1 1/2 inches long.
I started the car, put the heat on HI, and positioned the control rod all the way towards the cockpit (hot position). Slid the arm on the motor shaft and aligned the splines and pressed with all my might to get it on. I ran a quick test and watched the arm fall off the shaft.
This is when I took an old 1" c-clamp and modified it. The shaft goes all the way through the motor. My thought was to press the arm on the shaft and not put any undue pressure on the motor itself. It worked like a charm. With just a little pressure from the clamp, I visually watched the arm slide completely onto the splined shaft. Its been 2 days with perfectly regulated heat.
Good luck.
Aaron
