Hello,
I have a 96 with slightly more mileage than the one you are seeking to purchase. I have owned the car for almost two years and bought it with 60K. I have replaced the exhaust, heater core, di cassete, brakes, bypass valve (three times) and battery. While most of this is expected stuff that needs to be replaced at these intervals - I would pay attention to the di cassete. If it hasn't been replaced you can almost guarantee it will go in the near future. Also, past maintenance is always an issue, if you can find out who the past owner was, it may make a difference. My past owner did great maintenance (all dealer stamps checkups, services, etc..) and was a retiree. I know he took care of it. This is important because If they beat the car - a transmission replacement would be bad, very bad. I find that if the wastegate arm has been adjusted - you know they drove it for speed. I would check it. I know the first thing I did was adjust that arm.
BillJ also has a 96 - He may have some valuable input as well.
