I have an 86 9kt 170k. The problem i have is either the clutch or the transmission? I drove my car at 100-120mph for about 20 miles parked the car in my drive way, no problem. The next day when i came out to get in my car, smoke came out of the trans area. I had an almost impossible time getting the shifter to go in gear.(getting the shifter to go in gear has been an intermitten thing for the last thousand miles or so. The brake fluid is at the right level but I have noticed drops of a dark brown fluid on the driveway(engine oil level has not changed since the last oil change).
Right now i have a lot of difficulty engaging gears. sometimes when the shifter is in gear it gets stuck and i have to yank it out? also, when the shifter is in not in gear and i let off the clutch the car lurches foward and dies. When it is in gear(very hard to do)i get a similar reaction. somtimes i can get the car to move but it will usually do the same thing.
I'm asking for some advice on what the problem could be.
Any info or suggestions about this problem would be very helpful
