Clutch flex line advice, please...

I am currently working on the flexible link in the clutch hydraulic system on an 87 9kT. The hose has popped off twice before during the first 130k miles I've owned the car (currently at 195k), but in the last week it has popped off twice stranding my parents both times.
I read a post recently about using a stainless brake line to replace the rubber one, but have a few questions about it. The real problem doesn't seem to be weakness in the line, but weakness in how it connects. Since the line seems to fail on the engine side more often, I'd guess thermal changes cause the crimp connector to fail on that end, not inside the aquarium. My first question is how could a stainless flex link improve this connection if the hose isn't splitting but the connector is popping off? My second question is would using 2 hose clamps to refit the rubber hose (after pushing the hose on as far as it would go and clamping near both ends) be enough to hold it on? I'm sure there is high pressure in this small tube which must exert great force on the clutch.
Thanks for any thoughts!
