Re: $250 incl. S/H. for H&R springs for my 88 9KT? Posted by Andrew [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: $250 incl. S/H. for H&R springs for my 88 9KT?, Justin VanAbrahams ![]() |
Depends entirely on whether yer seriously into performance or pose.
Having spent several years Campaingning a Cooper S and later getting my Wife's Super 7 to the Nationals (runner up;-( in Solo., I've tried just about every setup combo possible, for measurable 'performance'.
Replacing the springs is way down on the sequence list of 'improvements' IF yer primary concern is getting around a track faster.
You want yer 9k to handle better? buy a set of Konis.. prefereably the variety tha accurately suits the intended purpose.. competetion or traffic.. the valving is much superior to the garden variety Bilsteins even.. rebound control is critical, cheap shox usually step up the compression..ignoring rebound.. naive buyer thinks that his nice stiff shocks give superior grip :-).
Replacing springs for a performance increase is not taken lightly...this is serious business, more art than science.. buying them so yer cars drops a couple of inches is done daily.. but bears only passing resemblance to tailoring a set for real performance.
Ergo my comment.. you wanna look Kool (and mebe get a small 'handling' upgrade cuz of the reduce CG)??.. then by all means buy springs of your favourite flavour.
But a set of Konis WILL get you around a track faster... if that's your intent.
