Engine turning over-
In cold weather, your oil is thicker and the battery has much less ooomph. Make sure you're running the right weight of oil, and get a shop to check your battery for load capability. Anything over four years and it's toast.
Clutch. Things will be stiffer when cold. What's 'fairly new'? Fluid should be flushed (clutch and brake fluid) every two years. A buildup of air or water in the fluid will make for a mushy feel. And crawl under the dash and look at the clutch pedal - is the pivot straight? Does it need a little lubrication?
When it's hot out, you probably leave the ACC on AUTO, which runs the A/C. When the AC runs, an extra fan on the radiator runs, too, keeping everything cool. The A/C isn't running below freezing, so your car may actually run warmer in winter.
Just below horizontal is great. That's actually just a hair low. Anyway, you want it running higher in winter - that's the heat that keeps the cabin warm.
I'll bet your Aero loves one thing about cold weather - you get a lot more boost on a cold, dry day than on a hot, humid one. There's a lot more oxygen in cold, dry air, the air charge starts off cooler, and the intercooler works better.
