I believe the rims don't line up, something having to do with 5 bolt holes versus 4.

The 1995 cars came with a TCS On Off switch. TCS is On automatically when the car starts. You can hit the switch to turn it off, and it will stay off until you hit the switch again, or restart the car.
Just remember, the OFF switch DOES NOT inhibit Limp-Home mode; it only turns off anti-wheel spin, so you can spin the tires all you want. The TCS is essentially a drive-by-wire system, and if it detects a fault in the system, or just thinks there is one, it drops into limp-home mode - very low power. TCS failures don't happen to all cars, but since it's a pretty nasty thing to happen to you, people notice it big time, so it gets lots of press. Even with the TCS switch set to OFF, you can still get stuck in limp home mode.

DI Cassette - I don't think any action 'breaks' the DI cassette. You could call it a design error, but I think that's harsh. The DI was a first generation system mounted right on an engine, and that's about the harshest environment you'll ever find for electronics. Yes, some do fail, and a lot last a long, long time. There isn't a whole lot you can do differently - changing engine oil frequently or cleaning it won't help. What you can do is inspect it periodically. One failure mode is for one or more of the coils to lose the cooling oil in the coil tube. The level keeps dropping, and eventually the coil overheats and dies. Lift up the DI, and flip it over. There is a plastic cover held on by 6 or so torx screws. Remove the cover, and inspect the plastic coil tubes for oil leakage. They should be around 80% full of oil. If one is low or leaking, about all you can do is replace the DI cassette, but that's better than a complete failure.

DON'T mistake oil around the sparkplugs for a leaky DI. It's very common for the valve cover gasket to weep a little oil, and the lowest point is the 'valley' in the head, where the spark plugs sit.
