That could be a slipping of whatever it is in the transmission. Or, maybe it could be something as simple as governor seals. Did you try manually shifting to "1" to see what happens?
If SteveB doesn't reply, send him an email since he's the one here who knows what he's talking about.
I looked at the a/t manual and no problem identical to your is identified. However, one thing the manual is clear about is that TCS and the a/t are very much interrelated and a fault in one can effect the other. All of the diagnostic work related to this requires ISAT or TECHII. Other possible issues identified in the book include the kick down cable (seems unlikely in 1st - but who knows), the fluid level, brake band C adjustment, valve body and governor.
You might want to double check the fluid level since it was changed recently. You probably know that to check the fluid, the motor has to be running at operating temp, and you have to shift through all the gears at least once first.
The other thing you can do is to send Eriksson an email. They are great on the phone, but I don't know how easy it is for you to call Connecticut.
I thought of you the other day when the horn button broke off my 93CS.
