Put a Boost Gauge In The Light Switch Hole.... Posted by Savary [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Very very easy. This is really the best spot for it.
The gauge is at the top edge of the dash and uses an existing hole, and the location looks "factory".
You can glance down and see the boost reading without moving you head.
Even if the gauge was in the top DIN opening of the center consol, you have to turn you head and look down.
You don't want to do that if your driving aggressively.
Also I don't like the hot rod look when gauges are on top of the dash or on the A pillar.
The hard part is getting a vacuum line through the fire wall. I drilled a hole next to the shift rod, (someone here recommended that).
Ran the vac line through and sealed it with silicone.
Remove your speaker cover and loosen the left side of the dash cover.
Loosen the dash front, remove the vent assembly.
Now, take some pliers and break off the plastic edge on the light switch opening.
Then take a knife and cut the opening just a bit bigger. This only took about three minutes.
The gauge slides in nice and snug.
Wired it by taping into one of the wires on the dimmer switch.
I relocated the light switch down near the hood latch.
The harness was long enough!
I made a bracket and screwed it to the lower edge of the "kick panel".
You can reach it easily. But I rarely use the switch.
I have a '93 9000.
