Occasional Starting Difficulties After Heavy Rain

Hi, I have an odd psuedo-problem. My 89 9000 (140K..runs great!) will occasionally have a little difficulty turning over after a heavy rain storm. This doesn't happen after every rain storm, and it ONLY occurs when the air and car are moist from rainfall. Its not a battery issue, b/c that is new and the problem has existed both before AND after that was replaced.
When the problem arises (as it did this morning,) it will eventually turn over after 5-6 attempts to get the engine started. It may sputter for the first few seconds, but once its revved up, there are NO issues at all. And then the problem will disappear for a few weeks or months, only to eventually reappear randomly after another rain storm.
I cannot stress enough that 98% of the time, the car starts up fine.
Any ideas as to what might be going on?
