Open the hood. At the base of the windshield there is a horizontal plastic cover. On earlier year cars, there are two separate covers, one on each side of the center air intake. Newer cars have one big cover.
Remove the cover. On the passenger side (US cars - right hand side looking forward) you'll see a black plastic box next to the air conditioning condensor. The box is held closed with clips. Undo the clips, and pull the filter element out, like toast from a toaster.
