Silicon grease is what I use to lube.
No it's no heat shrinking involved, it's the extreme fit and elasticity of line that molds it around the checkvalve.
When using the flare clamp, you cannot let the tube stick out the full lenght of check valve, but only allow about 3/4" of tubing stick out.
Otherwise the fuel line will kink on you when pressing the valve in.
If fuel line kink, you have to cut off and start a fresh.
When you have gotten the checkvalve to go in over the first hump, you can open the clamp and move the line out another 1/2 or 3/4" and push it further in.
