Why do you think this symptom has anything to do with the auto trans?? personally i don't think so unless it would feel like excessive 'slippage', but then you really would be sure, I can tell you.
If it shifts fine (no 'jolt' at 3-4 or 4-3?) i'd say you're in luck.
If asking questions about auto trans, always state whether or not you have the RIGHT level of CLEAN fluid. The auto trans starts there. Before that condition is met, pondering about anything else that might or might not be wrong is pretty useless.
The way you describe the problem would draw my attention to things like plugs, and notably the AMM, if this problem occurs after a couple of minutes after cold start.
Good luck,
Jan Geert
