As you may remember, I'm the idiot who couldn't tell left from right while doing the front brakes on my 93 9000 CDE. (I sheared off one of the caliper carrier bolts and both caliper slide pins. Again, for those who missed it the first time around, the moral of my sad story is that left is only left if you're looking at the bolt. Left is actually right if the bolt is facing away from you.)

Anyways, I had finally gotten the old discs off once I drilled out the T40 screws (why, Saab, why did you use such a shallow bolt in a spot virtually guaranteed to corrode?)

I ordered the caliper carrier, the bolts and the slide pins from Goldwing before Christmas. I was away for a few days, and the package arrived while we were gone. When I got home, I checked the parts. The carrier was the wrong size. I looked at the invoice and it read "93 900 RF Caliper Holder." Yes, that says 900, not 9000.

Anyways, I got that straightened out and got the correct holder, the slide pins and the bolts. I start reassembling. I note that the new bolts are about 1/8" longer than the old. I hope that this is not a bad sign.

Put the right side carrier on, and tighten it down. Hmm. I can't turn the disc anymore. That's not good. Realize that the longer bolts have bottomed against the disc before they were fully tightened. Sigh.

So, does anyone think that putting a 1/8" metal split washer on the bolts for the caliper carrier would be a bad thing?

On a good note, the left side is completely reassembled. I suppose you do need both sides to be connected and working, right? (That's a joke, son.)
