When the shaking starts, very gently apply the brakes. Does the vibration change in any way? It would also be good (if possible) to pull the car over when it starts shaking, and CAREFULLY feel each of the front rims for heat.
I had seen a problem where a front brake caliper will drag, heating up the disk. The disk expands and even minor warps are magnified, alternately dragging and letting go on the brake pad. Makes for a hellacious vibration. Eventually the piston gets pushed back, the drag stops, and everything is OK. If when you pull the car over and you find one rim is MUCH hotter than the other, you've got a dragging caliper.
That's about all I can come up with.
