After 1992 the DI harness is part of the whole engine harness. The earlier DI had a 2 foot or so harness attached to it. All replacement and factory installed DI's since then do not have an attached harness. To replace the DI on the earlier cars you would have to obtain a separate harness to replace the one that was originally attached to the DI. Your car has a connector at the end of the DI and does not need and can not use the separate harness. Apparently the connector that mates to the DI has a problem. You can obtain from the dealer replacement connectors and contacts for the harness that plugs into the DI. Hope you have figured out how to release and mate the connector, it has a neat locking mechanism
