Your right that the saab adapts to altitude to an extent, but there is a world of difference between sea level and where I live. High altitudes create a sluggish "overfueled" effect and low altitudes it tends to detonate. Here is what they said at SD.
"The 1991 9000T employs a very capable fuel system but may require fuel
enhancement after our DI/APC upgrade. Under non WOT position, the LH system
will provide increased pulse duration to the fuel injectors when/if needed
but @ WOT there is always a max pulse duration at these same fuel injectors
under the LH system. Since the boost pressures are higher under WOT, fuel
pressures through the rail fpr/regulator will also be increased relative to
the increase in manifold pressures. In short, a 7-8 psi gain in boost will
also see a 7-8 psi gain in fuel rail pressures while under WOT."
I would ad that they recommended additional fuel support if it knocked too much. so far it seems like a good mix.
