If the engine runs well at high RPM, it certainly isn't the fuel pump. About all the FP can do wrong is not pump enough fuel (low pressure), and that would show up while running at speed.

Probably not the ECU. Of all the things that can go wrong, ECU failures are pretty rare. Yes, they do happen, but not very often. For some reason folks like to blame the computer.

Of course, make sure the plugs are gapped properly, and don't look worn or dirty. If they aren't the exact specified NGK's, replace them with the exact NGK's specified in the manual.

Check for vacuum leaks - those will play havoc with the idle/low speed operation. Pull the right front turn signal assembly and make sure the hoses to the charcoal canister in the RF fender are intact. Check all vacuum lines and clamps.
It sounds like the problem came up suddenly. Of course, bad gas is always suspect. Run through that as soon as possible.

It might be a bad DI (Direct Ignition) cassette. Poor low speed operation is one of the danger signs. I don't recommend replacing it unless you see other issues (missing, etc), as it 'taint cheap, but keep it in mind.
