I've had this Sub for 3 years now. I got the 12w3 d6 model right when it came out. ($200 for the speaker) And it still sounds great. it's in a small sealed box (under 1 cu. ft. IIRC) and I've got about 250 watts running to it. It's wired in parallel so the impedance is 3 ohms which ups the amps output a little.
Just make sure that if you set the subwoofer crossover on the head unit that you're not too high (out of the freq. range for the sub). The amplifier should have a crossover built in, so you could use that instead of the headunit's. That is up to you.
Rockford makes a good product, just get one that can handle a decent amount of power so you can "turn it up" if you want more bass later on.
Email me if you've got ???'s that I might help with.
