With open ended control systems such at diesel engines, a AMM/MAF that is dirty will cause a loss of power. These folks clean them with plastic safe electronics-safe spray cleaners. Never use one with silicones or tuner lubricant cleaners. Carb spray would trash it! Never touch the MAF sensor or use a brush etc.
But I don't think that there is any reason to clean a MAF for a gasser. If it is off its nominal signal characteristic it does not matter at all. the ECU will adapt to whatever its signal offset and linearity are via the closed loop operation of the O2 sensor. As for max power, I expect that that is controlled by a manifold pressure fuel cut, but in a stock config, the pressures are controlled to a point well beyond that.
So thats my understanding, but I have no specific experience with the 9Ks.
