Well I just got a 90 9K 2.3 non turbo. It ran perfect without a problem until a few days ago. I was out bleeding the clutch, so for a better view I took off the air tank just below the air mass meter (I was careful not to bump the air mass meter). After the clutch was done I was to lazy to put the air tank back on and I didn't think it would cause a problem so I tried to start it up. Well it did start and ran real ruff so I shut it off and reconected the air tank and make sure everything was right including making sure nothing was wrong with the air mass meter. Well I started it up again. It still ran real ruff so I though I would be smart and give it some gas. That made it worse, it back fired and then quit. So I tried stating again, this time it would fire but never quite start, it came real close though. After each attempt it would get worse and worse, now finally it doesn't make any attempt to start. The started just turns the engine over but it doesn't sound like it ever fires. I let it sit over night thinking it was flooded but that didn't help at all. I tried pulling the spark plugs (NGK), they were black and dripping with fuel. I cleaned them (they look better now) checked the gap (it was off, way to big) (is .031 right for that gap)? I then with the spark plugs out I let the cylenders dry out for the afternoon, figuring they were wet with gas. Still after putting everything back together would not start. Still not firing.
Any help would be great. Thanks, Micah
