I suspect it may be 134. I have a '92, and I believed it to be the last of the R-12s.
The later automatics may be marginally better, but I wouldn't assume it. I always assume a decently-maintained automatic is good for 80K-100K miles. You might get more, you might get less. But if you assume that and build it into the price, you'll be fine.
Of course, a poorly maintained automatic will fail earlier. But one should assume that a poorly maintained automatic means a poorly maintained total vehicle, and any such vehicle should be avoided.
For the 9000, check the heater core. With the vent set to Defrost, check for coolant smell once the car warms up. Make sure the ACC works - that you can change fan speeds, that it blows both hot and cold, and that you can change vent positions. If it's below freezing, you can't check the A/C, but it would be nice.
Check the upper torque arm bushings (engine mount) for major cracking. That's a sign of bad engine mounts. Peer down at the lower engine mounts (belt side) to see if they need replacement. If so, assume $500 for a shop to do it, much less if you do. Of course, check belts. Since this this car has A LOT more electronics than your old '86, make sure everything works - fans, lights, seat heaters, power seats (if so equipped), windows.....
