I advise you to replace the blower motor. What happens is when the motor begins to die, it alters the resistance/current in the circuit, and this eventually can overload the resistor and fry it. So if you replace the resistor, it's likely you'll experience the problem again and again. At $70 per, the resistor's expensive enough that you should seriously consider doing both now.
Although the blower motor's a tough job, who knows how long you'll get by until you're once again replacing the resistor?
Lots of blower fans give audible signals of their ultimate demise -- some don't, and the fried resistor is your only clue.
