The cracks in the headlight relay circuit board usually show up as the car switching the brights on and off by itself, or the inability to select the brights (high-beams).
The pictogram being on when it shouldn't is usually due to a bad ground somewhere (usually at the tailights), or possibly bulbs from two different manufacturers.

Although it's possible that doing something in the headlight relay could cause the pictogram to come on, I suspect that it's coincidence. If you can reliably switch between high and low beams, the job you did on the headlight relay is probably fine.

Don't forget, when you turn on the headlights, it also turns on the running lights at the rear. When those lights come on, there is more current flow through the grounds at the rear, and it's more likely to show up ground problems.

First thing, make sure it's the Headlight picture you're seeing. This may sound dumb, but the pictogram doesn't do a great job of indicating head versus tail lights. If it truly is the headlights, make sure the bulbs are of the same brand, and hopefully, of around the same vintage. Check the headlight grounds (the relay provides the high side). There are also some very tricky things done with the headlight current returns to disable the fog light relay (no fogs if high-beams on) that can provide current sneak paths that will mess up the pictogram.

The pictogram is one of the great mysteries of life - you can sometimes solve it, or sometimes it will elude you forever. What does that mean? It means you can't always fix it. But it is worth a try.
