Need help w/ "no start" diagnosis - random no start

The car is a 91 9kt with a 6 month old ignition switch. I've read the "no start" posts and still would like a little assistance on pinpointing what might be the culprit. Lately I have been experiencing a no start problem and more often have been experiencing a no power locks problem (also random). I can live w/o power locks but I need my car to start and I suspect that whatever the fix is will fix both. What I noticed today is that when turning the car off, all power cuts out, including radio power to the point I need to punch the code back in. Re-start not always immediately successful. Often takes many tries to get some power. When there is "no start" interior light is very dim, no power locks, but gauges do respond. Also noticed headlights dimming when I applied the brakes on the drive home. WHen I got home and shut it down I lost all power, no start. After several tries I got power back, without starting it but having key turned to accessories, I turned the headlights on and lost power - again no start. I've read on the bb about lock actuators and solenoids... but I'm not sure what might apply here. Battery is good conections are clean, and when it's on everything works fine. I hope there is enough info here to say it's definitely the .....that's causing this. Thanks for any help!
Chris
