LPT upgrade helpful hints (?) ..............

I received the following helpful advice for doing the upgrade & just wanted to run it by you folks.
1. I was told to disconnect the battery before swapping the ECU.
2. Waiting a half an hour before restoring power to the car.
3. After the upgrade's complete, to go beat up on the car for 20 - 30 mins because the "T5 programs itself to your driving patterns".
Is it possible to re-imprint the ECU after it's been used? I'm a big fan of whips & chains after the first couple of miles when a car is new, but didn't think it would do any good in this situation.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
