A well balanced set if disc brakes can do quite well in the slick. ABS can take control of the car away from a good driver. They have not reduced the accident rate much if any, the number of off road shunts has gone up appreciably. It's those manufactures that insist on mixing drum and disc braked that need ABS. The ABS in your car operates independently of the hyda - electric brake system. Disconnecting the ABS ECU is worth a try.
