It could well be a clutch master cylinder beginning to fail. I would be surprised if it was anything in the linkage because with a fully working hydraulic system there is a lot of force pushing the clutch pedal back up from the floor - more than enough to overcome a "sticky" linkage.
I suspect that one day the pedal will hit the floor and not return. Check for leaks from around the clutch housing - this would indicate a slave cylinder beginning to fail. If none, then it is likely the master cylinder, or the hoses as Julz mentioned.
