The inner boots usually go a very long way. The outer boots fail regularly. I would get this fixed as soon as possible, particularly this time of year.
There's a CV joint FAQ on this site which describes a more comprehensive way to do this than the Quasi method. The problem with the Quasi method is that it's not always easy to separate the joint from the axle with the axle still attached to the inner driver. I use lock ring pliers rather than snap ring pliers. Lock ring pliers are bigger than snap ring pliers.
