Sounds like your pressure plate may be getting weak and the warm engine is allowing the clutch to slip....or
depends on what type of driving your son has been doing with the Turbo. Could be just a worn clutch. If I were you, I put the car in second gear, rev it up and pop the clutch....you'll know real quick if your clutch is worn. If the car starts jumping trying to catch, you've got a good clutch system. If the engine just revs higher, you'll be pulling the trans.
