Gotta say no agreement here that your reservoir level could have the effect of this sort on your clutch operation. Good that you removed the extra, but I just can't see any connection. Hydraulic fluid is specifically made not to expand or contract with temperature -- if it did, your brakes would apply themselves! In fact, does any liquid actually expand when heated, or change states? Not that I know.
It's more likely that whatever was plaguing your clutch has [temporarily] fixed itself, while sitting in "time out" thinking about its poor attitude and how that is no way to win friends. Maybe it's decided not to do that anymore.
In my case, it was the dreaded slave cylinder. Just a bad part I guess. Car's back together again, and it is hoped it will stay that way longer than 35 minutes THIS time. I'm still dealing with the incredulity that a brand new part that itself takes .5 minutes to exchange a.) failed, and b.) required about twelve hours of my time to replace. The moral: STICK WITH THE DEALER FOR YOUR SLAVE CYLINDER PURCHASES!!
Hope yours is fine and dandy into perpetuity.
