Hi,

I've been having an ongoing problem with the idle on my 94 CS. With the idle control valve plugged in the car will idle at 1600 RPM in neutral, drops to 1200 RPM in drive. This is with the throttle plate almost fully closed. There are no vacum leaks, and I've checked the continuity on the throttle position sensor, coolant temp sensor, intake air sensor and O2 sensor....all are within spec and the wiring is good back to the ECU. There are no check engine lights.

I've taked the AIC out and cleaned it and also applied battery power to it and it opens and closes as it should. If I leave it unplugged I can get the idle down to 1200 RPM in neutral and about 1000 or so in drive, but this is again, with the throttle plate closed so that it is just at the point where it is binding.

It seems to me that there is air entering the engine that shouldn't, but, there are no vacum leaks that I can see. Also the ECU seems to be telling the AIC to stay 'open' all the time when it is plugged in. Other than this the car runs fine but I am stumped. Any advice/help appreciated.
