One of the first 9000s in the US. Light, nimble and just a kick to drive. I could mindless pitch that car into corners that would give the later 9000s fits.

Transmissions were a very common problem that year. My first failed at 165k, and until recently I hadn't heard of one that lasted longer. I had two wrecking yard transmissions after that but both failed in a few months.

I think Saab changed transmissions in '88. So it was really hard to find replacements. I tried to repair the first one, but as I recall it seized a bearing, perhaps spun it in the case.

Wish I still had it though. I have a spare B234R sitting in the garage. The two would have made quite a pair.
