Experience with 1993 CSET 5 spd 181K miles. I have a lead foot (like every other Saab Turbo driver).
At 140K miles, I added Prolong to Transmission when transmission oil was changed (had to be sucked out) - first transmission oil change ever. Recommended by Indy. Clutch and Transmission are still original.
At about the same time, I started using Prolong Engine Treatments also. I only use it about every 2nd or 3rd oil change, mainly in the winter months to try and reduce engine wear. I change oil/filter every 5000 miles, using Saab filter and normal 10W-30 oil.
I have never had a Turbo, engine (except for the obligatory head gasket at 57K miles) or transmission problem. Engine uses oil at a rate of approximately one quart every 5000 miles. I figure that is normal for a car with 181K miles.
Prolong is touted as a metal treatment (not an oil treatment) and maybe safer for use that a normal oil type treatment.
Bottom line - I have been running Prolong off and on now for 40K miles with no negative affects.
