Adding the switch to a 92 is more involved, I believe you need to upgrade to a 1993 ECU before adding the switch. The switch doesn't stop a broken TCS from causing problems but does allow you to temporarily disable TCS for very slippery conditions where the car will not move at all unless you allow some wheel spin. It is also good for smokey burnouts.
TCS doesn't "always" break but it is another system that requires maintenance and many mechanics are not good at troubleshooting it. The most expensive "bit" is the electronic throttle body ( ~ $700 ) and the early ones (eg. 1992) are more prone to failure.
I have a 1993 Aero that has required $75 in work for TCS issues in the last 3 years (new TCS safety valve).
