Brakes are fairly important. I sympathize with your efforts to save money, but it's possible that this is an area that you should not gamble. Possibly the variance between a new rotor/pad on one side only will be enough to throw an inaccurate reading on the ABS system. I realize that one side might have worn incorrectly up to this point, but once you have identified a problem, you should put it in correct fashion.
Call a repair shop and find out if they would send a car out the door with only one side done. My guess is they won't. You can't even go to a tire shop and purchase just a single tire and have them mount it.
