Again, you will notice a difference in performance with higher-octane fuel, guaranteed. My car also (before mods) had the 200hp-producing engine, and when I used lower octane (87) in place of my normal stuff (93), I would not boost into the red. With 92/93, I ALWAYS boost, and stay, in the red. In fact, with my Stage 3 ECU and JT 3" exhaust, the boost guage is usually pinned BEYOND the red.
Just because you have the Garrett turbo (as I have) vs. the Mitsubishi (Aero stick) does not mean it does not want higher-octane fuel. It's still a turbocharger. The trionic system will adapt everything to work with the higher-octane fuel, resulting in more boost at the sacrifice of less mpg's (you will need to make a choice as to what is important to you: higher boost or higher mpg's--sorry, can't have both...).
But before you jump to 92 or 93 octane, try out 89. Some engines only need to go to that level and will perform as well as if it had the higher-octane in the tank. I never tried this, but have read on the board that it does work for other people.
