Stock for a 88: 3.0 Bar for NA (Normally aspirated/non-turbo) and 2.5 Bar for Turbo. Both pressures are with the line to the intake manifold plugged. As for the no-start after an engine rinse, the first place I'd look is inside the distrutor cap and the under the spark plug cover. The inside of the cap must be completly dry, and if the area under the plug cover is full of water that wouldn't help either. Then take every electrical connector apart you can find and make sure they are dry. It wasn't running when you washed the engine was it? Have hope, I awoke one morning this spring to find my 88 in water up to the door handles. The only stock item that did not come back to life with some elbow-grease was the windshield washer pump. Oh and the aftermarket CD changer and head unit, and the IBM laptop I had in the trunk. But the SAAB came right back to life with a good drying out.
