Hi,
I have just recently started with repairing/modifying Saabs (about 2 years ago, when I was 21) or any car for that matter. I learn as I go along, and the idea of an internal combustion engine is brilliant. Saabs are special cars! I have seen a lot of different engine (my bro is a mechanic) and NON seems as easy to work on or as easy to modify.
The thing that makes Saab especially great for me is consistacy of model years. You do not see this in most American cars. I love the fact that the same engine is used for decades. This becomes an advantage when you start molding the engine or the whole car for that matter, to your preferances. I like the ability of adding a Gunuine Saab part from a different model year or different models (900) in order to customize the set up. This process (which Zeke calles "transplanting") enables to improvement of function without the compromise of realibility or compatability, which are my concerns about some after market add-ons (not to mention that it cheaper)
My next transplants are:
- '92 NA tranny 5 speed. Its rebuilt and much better than my 200k '86 tranny
-16' Aeros w/ Toyo Proxies H1S
-front airdam from '91 (with on board fog lights).
Best Rerards,
Roman
