I just installed a 2.3L head from a '91 engine and aside from it being rough at low rpm's, working on this at the moment, there is definitely an increase in power. I've noticed that boost comes on sooner, quicker, and stronger than it ever has before! Upper gear acceleration is much improved!
As for the rough running I've been given a couple of ideas to check and I'm going to do this as soon as I can. It has gotten a bit better as I've driven it today so I'm hopeful it just has something to do with the gulps of water the engine got while running with the original head which stopped giving a good seal.
