So you don't really save any money to replace it now. Plus, very rarely do they go bad. I think I have replaced one or two.
The heat flap itself though, you should absolutly replace together with the support bracket going across blowerhousing opening.
Those two items gets so brittle with age, so it is a big chance to break them when juggling the blower housing back into car.
