That's a tough question to answer. People change wheels all the time without torque wrenches and live to tell about it. However, you're right that Saabs (like many other cars) are sensitive to overtightening. And of course, UNDERtightening has the potential to be even worse.
The best advice I can give you is if you've never done it before, beg/borrow/rent a torque wrench for the first couple of times so you can get a feel for how much force is required. If you get a good sense for this, and can become skilled at applying the same amount of force consistently, you won't need the torque wrench in the future.
