It's an on/off control valve for the TBPV>>>>>> Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: What does this valve do?, Jeff Cunningham, Sun, 30 Mar 2003 08:26:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
TBPV (Turbo By Pass Valve = hooter valve). It moderates the opening of vacuum applied to the TBPV.
I can't promise that the two valves are interchangable because they carry different partnumbers. But the reason for that could be that they have a different size mounting bracket, and that would require two different part numbers.
The resistance over the two pins are identical (30 Ohm).
It could also be that the two valves are operating in an opposite way. One is opening when power is supplied, the other closes when power is supplied.
I haven't checked that myself since I always install the right valve at the right place so that I don't create more problems than neccesary with these finnicky TCS cars.
It's very important to replace those three vacuumhoses to the valve when fault tracing TCS problems. I have found a couple of cars where oil and crank case gasses have made their way down into one of the hoses and after time creating a blockage. That upset the TCS system as well.
